Comin' Back

Last week I committed to come back here for another year. I'm confident that it's the right decision, but its a big one. When I make big decisions, even if I am confident that I am making the right choice, I always want some confirmation that it's *really* right. Well, I go it. Thursday, Trefort had a dance. Now, one of the benefits of being a foreign teacher is that we don't get stuck with a lot of the drudgery and obligation that the Hungarian teachers do. At this dance, there were lots of Hungarian teachers that had to be there to chaperone. The American's didn't have to be there, but we went anyway, because the kids are fun. Someone asks me several times a week if I am planning to stay here next year. Until last week, I had always answered with, "I don't know." But a day or two before the dance, some kids asked me again, and I said, "Yes!" Then at the dance, I walked into the dancing room, and within a minute, 15 kids mobbed me, picked me up, and crowd-surfed me around the room. Most everyone stopped dancing and applauded. I had a very silly grin on my face. They also did the same thing to Dave (one of the other American teachers here who's coming back next year.)

I'll take that as confirmation.
