OK, I made it
OK, I made it. Mostly. I'm in Hungary, but ...there are a few complications. First thing: only one of my bags arrived with me. The other one spent a little longer in London for some reason. I couldn't extract an explanation from the nice lady that helped me. It was funny though, after my bag didn't come up the luggage return, I went to ask about it. I said, "Hi". The lady at the lost luggage desk said, "What is your name?" I told her, and without having to explain anything, she said, "Mr Ericsson, yes, we know you bag is not here. It is in London. It will be here at 11:15 tonight. Just give us an address and we will deliver it to you." I was kind of impressed. They knew the bag wasn't there before I got there. Cool. But I didn't remember the address of my apartment, so I told her I'd call her when I knew what it was. It turned out to be good that I didn't tell her then.
When I got out to the lobby of the airport, two administrators from my school were waiting for me. After exchanging pleasantries they said, "Neal ...well...there has been a change. You cannot go to your apartment. It is under construction."
Hehehe.
Trefort decided to remodel and redecorate the apartment during the summer. This is a very good thing. The place wasn't in very good shape and had a lot of problems. So the bathroom has been gutted and replaced, most of the furniture is being replaced, and all the rooms are being repainted or re-wallpapered. And the best thing - We're getting a microwave!!!!! Oh that's so good. A microwave. Cool. I don't know if the workers got started late, of if they're just very slow, but the place is a wreck right now. all the furniture and our stuff is piled in the middle of the rooms, the toilet is in the hallway, and everything is covered in a thick layer of construction dust. So I'm now temporarily staying with one of the other teachers in a guest room at the school's dormitory. The plan is that we can move into our place on Friday or Saturday. I hope so. I want to unpack.
Oh yeah, I gave the airline my temporary address and they just dropped off my bag, so I'm all here now, but not in my own place yet. soon...(and it has a microwave!)
